Ying Liu - Portfolio of Works

Painting people is very exciting for me. I developed this passion when I was young by drawing fashion models. Bringing out the person's character is a challenge in every painting. In "A Farmer", I have seen the signs of hard labor and worries of next year's harvest written everywhere on his face.

All my landscape paintings are either paint in plein air or paint in the studio based on my field studies as well as reference photos.
I found this location during my week in the San Luis Obispo Plein Air festival. I really want to capture the glow of the gold sunset on the coast.

"Henri" is an American Indian. A very good model for my Saturday morning Portrait Workshop and very kind person. Every time she poses for us, she would bring lots of munchies.

Just a few of my still life paintings here. I wish I have more time to paint more.
